day 1: cairo-Matrouh
Marsa Matrouh Egypte

Departure by car to take the road to the oasis of Siwa.

Arrival in Marsa Matrouh, a town on the Mediterranean coast.

Lunch in a typical restaurant.

Installation in a hotel by the sea.

Night at the hotel.

Day 2: Siwa

After breakfast, departure towards the southwest to reach Siwa.

Installation in a 4 * hotel.

In the afternoon, departure for an excursion in 4 * 4 towards the great sea of sand, stop at the source of Bir Wahed. A source of hot water, possibility of swimming.

You will witness the magnificent sunset over the Siwa dunes.

Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Siwa

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to visit:

The fort of Shali which dominates the city, founded in the 12th century. Shali had five levels, but it was broken up in 1926 by heavy rains.

The inhabitants abandoned it to settle in the present modern city.

The minaret of the mosque, in karshif (mixture of earth and salt water) still exists.

The ancient city of Aghourmi which contains the ruins of the temple of the oracle dedicated to the god Amon, built during the XXVIth dynasty, where you can see the hall of Alexander the great.

From the temple terrace, you can have a beautiful view of the ancient city, the big lake, the palm grove and Gebel El-Mawta.

 

Near the temple of the oracle, is the temple of Amun in Oum Oubeyda.

The temple was in good condition until the beginning of the 19th century. An earthquake damaged the temple in 1811; There remains a wall at the back of the sanctuary with beautiful reliefs.

 

The most famous source of Aïn El-Hammam water , called "Cleopatra's bath".

You can swim in the circular pool.

Lunch in a typical restaurant.

 

Discovery of Gabel Dakrour and its peaks which offer a magnificent view on one side of the palm grove and on the other on the temple of the oracle.

Sunset on the salt lake of Fetnas.

Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Siwa - Cairo

After breakfast, departure to visit:

Gebel el-Mawta (Hill of the Dead) is a limestone cliff, located one and a half kilometers from the city center. It has tombs dating from the XXVIth dynasty and the Ptolemaic and Roman times; The tombs generally have an entrance with niches and a room containing the sarcophagus.

Then departure to Cairo.

Enjoy the desert landscape with a break for lunch.

Arrival in Cairo and installation in your hotel.

Cost:

Based on 2 people: 1065 dollars per person.
